Introducing Somatic Meditation

Dear Yoga Practitioner,
How are you feeling right now?
Perhaps take a little time to check in with the sensations in your body… feel your feet on the floor, sense your breath. And then why not treat yourself to a stretch to recalibrate and find ease and a sense of letting go of unnecessary tension? Notice how this naturally makes a little more space for your spine to lengthen, creating more comfort in your heart, in your belly, in your shoulders and hips. Is there a gentle smile on your face right now, I wonder? I hope so! :-)
Being stuck in our heads is the standard state of being for us modern folk who spend much of the day in communion with screens. You’ll might be surprised to find the antidote for a busy mind involves sitting in front of your computer… but it does! This is a classic example of “it’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it.”
Each Monday at 8am, I offer a meditation on Zoom. Somatic Meditation is about feeling and sensing your body, breath and energy. This has a soothing and grounding effect, the feedback I get is that time flies, as we are creating comfort in the body along with cultivating more peace in the mind.
I realise that 8am is not a great time for most people to join. So I’m wondering would a Monday evening meditation - at 8pm - make it more accessible to you?

One-Day Yoga Retreat - A Somatic Journey Through the Energy Centres
A heads up that I’m offering my last in-person one day yoga retreat until after the summer break in less than two weeks, on Saturday 18th of May. These extended practice days offer us the opportunity to address layers of stuck stress that a 1.5 hour class, simply can’t touch. We also get to explore more subtle practices that don’t work in a regular class.
In this upcoming retreat, we’ll sense into our energy centres, otherwise known as the chakras. These reside in the non-physical energy body, known as pranamayakosha. Chakras have a deep resonance within the physical body, that is very familiar to all humans. Chakras remind us, we are more than our minds, we are more than our bodies, they are the magical non-physical bridge between emotions and the felt sense. We all feel our chakras (whether we believe in their existence or not). If you’ve ever had butterflies in your tummy, a sinking feeling in your heart, a lump in your throat, or tension in the centre of your forehead, you are feeling the energy of the chakras!
The One Day Retreat is for everyone, including those new to yoga. Please know you are welcome to bring along any aches, pains, and non-transmitable ailments you may have. I love to weave in ways of working with whatever is coming up for you on the day.
The standard cost of the retreat is £70. However, I’ve made some concessary passes (£30 on benefits/student rate; £50 low waged) for this retreat. Find out more and book concessionary passes here. If you’d like to buy a pass for you, or a friend or relative who you feel may benefit from the class, you are very welcome.

I would love to see you either online or in person for some yoga practice.
